Beware of toxic masculinity
“So much of popular culture tells (boys) that the only clear, defining thing about being a man, being masculine, is you excel in sports and sexual conquest,” Barack told his Renegades: Born in the USA podcast co-host Bruce Springsteen.
Do it like Michelle
Barack revealed to Essence magazine that he has so much confidence in how Michelle has been as a role model to his daughters, not relying on men to validate her looks, that he has no concerns about how both Sasha and Malia choose their dates. Barack also said the way his girls have seen him respect their mother has set a good example for them.
So what does Michelle want for her daughters? Mrs Obama told Good Morning America that she hopes her daughters learn from her story that “who they are right now is enough”. She added: “I always have wanted them to start practising the power of their voices very early on.”
