Having been in the spotlight for almost three decades, Angelina Jolie is certainly no stranger to rumours. So when we first heard whispers of a possible romance with The Weeknd, real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, we brushed it off as fake news. But after another run-in between the unlikely celebrity duo this past week, we’re taking notice and keeping a close eye.
Here’s what we know about 46-year-old Jolie and 31-year-old The Weekend’s unexpected connection.
They dined together ‘for hours’

The rumour mill went into overdrive on June 30 after Jolie and Tesfaye were spotted dining together for hours at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica. While the pair arrived and left separately, they were both snapped at the same place at the same time.
Considering they are both single, it’s not impossible that it could have been a dinner date – but it was more likely a business meeting. “They’re clearly not trying to hide [the dinner date],” an onlooker told Page Six: “He’s definitely focused on getting into the movie business. He has the new HBO series he’s starring in.”
The series in question is currently called The Idol and will be co-written by The Weeknd, who is also set to star in the show, according to Variety.
