Netflix has given us a first look at Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West in character as the former royal couple for the upcoming fifth and sixth season of The Crown . Some Twitter users called for Netflix to “redo casting” following the release of an image showing West dressed as the Prince of Wales in a double-breasted suit and striped tie. Casting him as Charles?” one user tweeted, another added, “I’m sorry but Dominic West is not a good fit for Prince Charles.” Some fans argued that West was “too handsome” to portray Prince Charles. Other fans called West’s casting “ridiculous”, “generous” and “unforgivable”. Princess Diana was introduced into Netflix’s The Crown during season 4, which focused on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II from 1979 to 1990. Season 4 depicted the highs and lows of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship, including their February engagement in 1981, their July wedding that same year, and the eventual fall of their marriage over extramarital affairs . Season 5 will feature a new queen, played by Imelda Staunton, following Olivia Colman (season 3-4) and Claire Foy’s (season 1-2) portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II.
