Aryan Khan’s life has been a fairy tale filled with riches that most can only dream of. From international trips to OTT luxury living, his dad Shah Rukh Khan’s mega-wealth has given him the dream life. But on October 2, that all came tumbling down after he was arrested in connection to a drug raid on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai. He traded in all the extravagance for rationed meals, strict bedtime and roll-call at one of India’s most notorious prisons: Mumbai Central. His bail plea was rejected on October 20, while dad SRK was spotted for the first time since the arrest on October 21, visiting his son in jail. Gauri is an interior designer and fills her home with signature pieces collected from her travels across the globe. Their most well-known home is Mannat in Mumbai. According to Vogue India, Shah Rukh Khan said the property first caught his eye when he was filming Yes Boss . Gauri told the publication that it took more than a decade to make it into her perfect home and she made sure everyone in the family, including their children Aryan, Suhana and Abram, had a say in the decor. The home is also popular spot among tourists as the King of Bollywood even had a podium built for him to greet fans on. The Khans also own a private island home in Dubai, with Shah Rukh Khan reportedly forking out US$2.8 million on the villa over Palm Jumeirah. It has two levels, six bedrooms and a remote-controlled garage, reports GQ India. And as if that’s not enough, there’s a third Khan residence in New Delhi. Gauri told Vogue India that the home is filled with photos from the family and sentimental memorabilia that’s on display . Aryan’s badminton racket is on the wall in the dining hall along with trinkets from his siblings. Art collections and vanity vans Having worked in the film business for more than 30 years and starring in more than 105 films, according to CNN, Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most legendary actors in Bollywood. And his wealth has allowed him to acquire signature art pieces. Gauri told Vogue India that there is a jade Ganpati statue and life-size Radha-Krishna sculpture in their Mumbai home. In their New Delhi house, a massive rug bought in Paris was framed and made into a centrepiece. Shah Rukh Khan also has a van worth around US$550,000 that the family often uses. It can extend once it is parked and has a pantry, wardrobe section and toilet cubicle, reports GQ India. Aryan has been in Arthur Road Jail, also known as Mumbai Central Jail, since October 7. He was arrested on October 3, the day after India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided a cruise ship he was travelling on just off the coast of Mumbai. The NCB claims to have discovered drugs on the boat and said that WhatsApp messages on Aryan’s phone showed he had dealings with an international drug network, reports The Economic Times . Aryan has denied the claims, but bail was opposed on October 20 after the NCB argued he might tamper with evidence and influence witnesses if he was released, per The Hindustan Times . He was sent to Mumbai Central Prison and remained there until his court appearance on October 20. According to Bollywood Life, Mumbai Central is one of the city’s oldest prisons and has 20 barracks with cells in them. The 1.14-hectare (2.83-acre) property houses just over 2,500 inmates, but was supposedly meant to accommodate only 800. No special treatment According to India Today , Aryan is eating regular prison food, as no food from outside is allowed. His family sent a money order to buy goods at the canteen. Bollywoodlife reports the same water is used for the toilet, bathing and washing of clothes. The prison has often been referred to as an “old school sweathouse” and apparently does not have fans despite the sweltering Indian heat. He has to be awake by 6am, breakfast is at 7am, lunch is at 11am and dinner is served at 6pm. In the afternoon, prisoners are allowed to roam in the open area for a limited amount of time. Aryan is under 24-hour surveillance in the prison, reports Hindustan Times .
