4 fast facts about Ahn Bo-hyun, the Netflix’s My Name star who rose to fame on Descendants of the Sun and Yumi’s Cells – but did he really have a crush on Song Hye-kyo?
Ahn Bo-hyun first caught fans’ attention as Sergeant Lim Gwang-nam in the 2016 hit series Descendants of the Sun. Even though he only played a supporting role, his incredible talent, fit physique and charming good looks made him a memorable character to fans of the show.
Now, Ahn has shot up to leading man status with back-to-back roles as the straightforward game developer Goo Woong in Yumi’s Cells, and as police detective Jeon Pil-do in the hit Netflix action-thriller My Name.

Ahn is an avid fan of boxing. He worked odd jobs to make ends meet
While you might think that landing a role on a hit K-drama would be a sure-fire way to get rich quick, that wasn’t the case for Ahn. After Descendants of the Sun ended, the actor still struggled to make ends meet, he said on JTBC’s Knowing Bros, reported Koreaboo. He made a living by working at a construction site while still pursuing acting at the same time.
On Knowing Bros, he explained: “In my rookie years, I worked at various part time jobs such as in gas stations, food courts and one-day jobs, because getting living expenses was difficult.”
Since then, the actor has starred in major roles in shows such as Itaewon Class and Yumi’s Cells, so it’s probably safe to say that he won’t need to take any more construction side jobs.

“I fell in love with Song Hye-kyo during the team dinner. She is a famous actress, so I expected her to arrive all dressed up, but she came barefaced with her hair up. She just seemed so chill,” he said.
