  • The White House wasn’t an upgrade for Melania, whose NYC triplex flat is gilded in gold – no wonder she didn’t move in until the building got a revamp
  • It’s difficult to see Melania as ‘relatable’ when she visits hurricane victims in Manolo Blahniks and does gardening in a Valentino skirt and Louboutins

The internet has often joked about Melania Trump being a “reluctant first lady” during her time in the White House, with many saying that she seemed less than enthralled with life there, even suggesting that she couldn’t wait get out and to return to enjoying her wealth privately and without judgment.

If Donald Trump ran for president again, would she be excited about a second term as first lady? We think it’s unlikely.

Here are five times Melania showed that her former first lady title might’ve been a poor fit

Even though mothers usually find first ladies easy to relate to, this wasn’t the case for Melania. In an interview during the lead up to her husband’s election, the former first lady attempted to prove she was just like the average American by bragging about how much time she spends with son Barron Trump.

“I don’t have a nanny. I have a chef and I have my assistant, and that’s it. I do it myself,” she told Vanity Fair. “You know, those hours with your child are really important ones.”

However, many pointed out that with cooking meals and virtually every other task off her hands, spending a lot of time with your children is easy if you can afford it.

Regular hotels are a challenge

Melania’s comments hinted she might be too rich to be first lady even before her husband was elected president. Back in 2016, when Donald and Melania were on the campaign trail, she had a very different experience to what she was used to. With her last name on luxury properties all around the world, it’s no wonder she was so fascinated with how simple the accommodation could be in the world of politics.
