What is life after leaving the royal family? These princesses – and duchess – prove that it is anything but boring. They may have given up their respective titles and certain privileges, but they can easily argue that it was worth it.
While the likes of Japan’s Princess Nori and Thailand’s Princess Ubolratana initially quit royalty for love, they eventually used their new-found freedom to carve out a strong career path.
Let’s take a look at what these royals-turned-career-women do for a living now.

The only daughter and firstborn child of Norway’s King Harald V and Queen Sonja, Märtha Louise gave up the title of “her royal highness” to marry commoner and author, the late Ari Behn, in 2002. Just a few years after that, she became a clairvoyant and co-founded an “angel school” that teaches students how to communicate with “angels”.

In 2019, Märtha announced on her Instagram that she would also drop the title of princess for her business activities after being accused of exploiting her title for her tour “The Princess and the Shaman” with boyfriend and spiritual adviser Shaman Durek. According to Dagens Næringsliv, the palace also released a press release confirming her decision.
She also penned the popular children’s story, Why Kings and Queens Don’t Wear Crowns.
