Remembering Snowdrop star Kim Mi-soo: the rising Korean actress, who we sadly lost at age 29, played a student activist alongside Blackpink’s Jisoo in the Disney+ series
Kim’s agency, Landscape Entertainment, wrote, “We sincerely ask that you refrain from spreading rumours or speculative reports so that the bereaved family, who is in shock and full of sorrow, can remember the deceased.” They also added that, “Her funeral will be held quietly behind closed doors according to the wishes of her family.”
As remember the actress, here are a few things to know about her …
She began her career in films
While many Korean actors begin their careers in K-drama, Kim actually started hers by appearing in several films. Her first film, Lipstick Revolution in 2018, tells the story of a group of university students who hoped to cause mayhem by covering their whole campus with lipstick, according to The Korean Film Council website. She then appeared in two other films, Memories and Kyungmi’s World, both released in 2019. In Kyungmi’s World, she played an unknown actress struggling to live alone in Seoul.
She attended Korea National University of Arts
She starred in four K-dramas in 2020
She played Yeo Jeong-min in Snowdrop
The new series Snowdrop, a romance and black comedy series, centres on the love story between two students played by Jisoo and Jung Hae-in in Seoul in the year 1987. Kim played Yeo Jung-min, one of the four residents in a dorm at Hosu Women’s University, opposite Jisoo, Jung Shin-hye and Choi Hee-jin. According to Soompi, the four actresses met before filming began and hung out during rehearsals “to perfect the chemistry and friendship between these four students and roommates”.
Kim’s character is a history student, a voracious reader and student activist in her fourth year, and is seen often wearing a tracksuit, thick glasses and slippers. The show is currently on air.
