Who is Nicolas Cage’s pregnant Japanese wife, Riko Shibata? 5 fast facts about the action hero’s fifth spouse – from her young age and acting career to their Las Vegas wedding

- Riko Shibata is Nicolas Cage’s fifth wife after Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, Alice Kim and Erika Koike – and after less than two years of marriage, she’s pregnant
- The pair filmed Prisoners of Ghostland together in Japan in November 2019 – now the 27-year-old Japanese actress is expecting the action hero’s third child
1. It all started on set?

Shibata is credited as, erm, “Mannequin Woman” in Cage’s 2021 movie Prisoners of Ghostland. The high-concept film is about a notorious criminal who “must break an evil curse in order to rescue an abducted girl who has mysteriously disappeared”, according to an IMDB synopsis, anyway.
The motion picture was filmed pre-pandemic in Japan from November 2019, however, long before their romance was known, so only time will tell if they continue to be content sharing a workspace.
2. They go way back – kind of

Cage reportedly met Shibata through a mutual friend in her home country of Japan (while filming?). They were first pictured together in February 2020 when he took her to the site of a tomb in New Orleans, Louisiana, US, that he’d bought for himself 10 years before. Then they went public, when she appeared on the red carpet for his film Pig in July 2021, and even made the cover of Flaunt Magazine in October.
Things must’ve moved quickly for the actors as Cage only married his fourth wife Erika Koike in March 2019. However, they filed for annulment four days after the Las Vegas nuptials and the divorce was finalised a few months later.
