The bride was radiant in red and the groom dashingly draped in gold jewellery in a wedding that lit up Brunei. Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah , the daughter of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah who is one of the world’s wealthiest people and royals, married Awang Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi in a ceremony of events spread out over days. Not much information about Princess Fadzilah’s new husband has been disclosed to the public, and the world has been on the alert since December 31 last year, when the wedding was announced. Princess Fadzilah’s is the elder sister of Prince Mateen , one of Brunei’s most popular royals. Throughout the celebrations, the couple were a sight to behold, their bright smiles and magnificent ensembles lighting up Istana Nurul Iman, the stately residence of the sultan and one of the biggest palaces in the world. So what exactly did they wear during the extravagant celebrations? Inside Brunei’s lavish royal weddings, from Malik to Majeedah Traditional red and gold As reported on News Fox24, Fadzilah wore a traditional wedding dress in red adorned with gold details, and had on a tall crown in golden yellow with intricate carvings. Her groom was dressed just elegantly as and wore gold jewellery. All-white On the day of the ceremony called the Istiadat Bersanding Diraja, where the couple were presented together for the first time as husband and wife, the pair were clad in matching white brocade. Fadzilah’s jewellery included a tiara and matching necklace, bracelet and ring. A long veil, elegantly draped from behind her crown, was gathered in a floor-length hem that made her ensemble look even more regal. She also carried a bouquet of white and gold sparkly flowers. The couple’s smiles were as dazzling as Fadzilah’s jewellery. Blue and grey For the wedding reception, the newlyweds wore matching blue and grey outfits. The report also noted that in previous occasions, Queen Saleha had loaned her tiara to other members of the royal family, including her daughters Princess Rashidah Sa’adatul, Princess Majeedah Nuurul and Princess Hafizah Sururul, and her daughter-in-law Princess Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah. Malaysian website Hype quotes the @bruneiroyalfamily Instagram in describing how the venue was decorated and arranged lavishly for the royal celebration. Called the Royal Regalia and Pemajangan decorations, it is “only reserved for royal festivities including royal processions, coronations, and also installation of the Crown Prince,” as per the report. “The Pemajangan is an embellishment of a white colonnade (covered with white cloth) that fronts the entrance of Istana Nurul Iman, with symbols associated directly with the Brunei Darussalam monarchy,” the report continued.
