5 reasons Jacob Elordi is nothing like his Euphoria character, Nate Jacobs: he dons gender-bending fashion looks like Harry Styles and respects his ex, Kaia Gerber
We all know it’s all too easy to hate Euphoria’s leading misogynist, Nate Jacobs. So we’re understandably confused whenever we reminded just how nice Jacob Elordi, the heartthrob playing him, is in real life. With his consistently grounded and philosophical outlook on life, this rising star seems like a much-needed breath of fresh air in Hollywood.
Here are five no-nonsense ways Elordi proves that an actor is not his character.
1. He’s not trying to be hyper masculine

2. He respects women
Unlike his infamous Euphoria alter ego, Elordi considers women his equals.
Despite going to an all-boys school in Melbourne, the actor recently told Men’s Health that he could never quite understand the way his classmates would talk about women.
“I have a brother and a dad as well, but I grew up in a house of women, you know?” he says, referring to his mother and three sisters. “Seeing the way they spoke about things at the school, I was like, this doesn’t make any sense. How could you speak like that?”
3. He dislikes stars being objectified for their bodies
Unlike his cold-hearted Euphoria character, whose toxic masculinity is inextricably linked with his intimidating physical presence, the actor sees himself in a very different way. Coming from a family where fitness always came first because his mother was a personal trainer, he has actively voiced his concerns about being defined by his appearance.

4. He has a sunny disposition
Elordi seems to always be smiling in real life, whether in candid paparazzi shots or on the red carpet – a stark contrast to Nate Jacobs. Perhaps it’s not surprising given Jacobs’ troubled upbringing versus his actor’s real life one.
He reportedly talks to his mother often, and has shared photos of himself video calling his parents on Instagram. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, the shy actor reminisced about his father surprising him with tickets to a New York Knicks game when he was eight, before picking his parents out of the audience to let them know he was taking them this time, and that they’d have the best seats in the house.
5. He is actually Australian

Most Euphoria fans have been shocked to discover softly-spoken Elordi’s Brisbane accent in real life. Testament to his acting abilities, we’d say.
The actor has also said in interviews that he often misses his country of birth. On his current life in Los Angeles, he told Men’s Health, “I know a few people [in LA]. I have a few friends. But I’m not mad about it. I’m here to work, and then I’ll get home when I can.”
- As HBO’s Euphoria returns for season 2, so does Nate Jacobs, the show’s hateful main character – but Jacob Elordi, the Australian actor who plays him, couldn’t be more different
- He had a happy childhood that he reminisced about on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, and has posted Instagram videos of himself calling his parents
