There are perks to taking over the pop culture landscape – just ask BTS. As the richest group in K-pop with a net worth totalling around US$50 million between them, it’s almost a given that such wealth would be spent on lavish properties, private jets and fancy items for their loved ones. But did you know that BTS’ wrist candy is just as OTT? In fact, it’s estimated their combined watch collection is worth over US$1 million!

It may seem like a lot, but let’s not forget that luxury watches aren’t just accessories, but also smart investments. And we’d expect nothing less from Jungkook, J-Hope and the gang …

According to CNBC, the demand for luxury watches has seen a sharp increase in the last two years, whether for original timepieces or pre-owned. This is in part due to the reluctance of the four big brands – Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille – to produce more of their limited edition timepieces despite the huge demand. So, which high-end watch brands do our favourite septet own?

The eldest member of BTS, Jin is definitely a Rolex fan. He has been spotted wearing a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 in Everose gold (he loves pink!) and in white gold. Both timepieces are diamond-encrusted and come in a 36mm dial, 18K white gold case and diamond-set bezel, according to Watchonista. Not stopping there, Jin also flaunted a Rolex Day-Date 31 back in 2019. Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual Day-Date is priced around US$55,000, according to Chrono-24.

Jimin wears a Cartier beloved by creatives

Cartier appears to be the brand of choice for Jimin, the vocalist and dancer of the group. And in particular, the deluxe Cartier Tank Américaine that’s famous for the long line of creatives that have worn it on their wrists since it was created in 1917. The ideal choice for someone like Jimin, we’d say.

The watch is priced at around US$6,300 new, and earned its name after Louis Cartier took inspiration from the tanks on the WWI battlefields as seen from above. The luxury timepiece comes with an octagonal crown set with a blue synthetic spinel, silver dial, blued-steel sword-shaped hands and shiny, navy-blue alligator leather strap.
