Super Junior’s Heechul (born Kim Hee-chul) is now the owner of a US$4.17 million home. According to an AllKpop report, the idol has made a down payment on a luxury villa-type flat in the posh Gangnam neighbourhood.

The unit is said to be in Sangji Ritzville Kylom, a preferred choice of residence among Korea’s most affluent. Reports note the location’s top-tier security, quality appliances, amenities and the like, making it an obvious choice for the wealthy and influential.

Entrepreneurs as well as top celebrities such as Jun Ji-hyun and Park Seo-joon are among those who are reported to have bought flats in the same development.

Super Junior debuted in 2005 and have been one of K-pop’s biggest acts ever since. It is no surprise that the members are doing well today thanks to their continuous success.

But outside the group, Heechul, known for his funny personality, is very active on variety shows and often hosts too. Most popular would be his spot as host on Knowing Bros.

According to Kpopstarz, as of 2021, Heechul’s earnings have reached an estimated US$15-20 million, coming from his earnings with Super Junior as well as solo work. Heechul is in the top three most wealthy members in his group, alongside Siwon and Kyuhyun.

Last year was also a comeback year for his group, with the release of their tenth studio album, “The Renaissance”. In just its first month, as per the same report, it had already reached over 400,000 sales on the Gaon Chart.

Heechul became the main host of at least three shows last year, as well as appearing on others and releasing his webtoon called Recipe for Youth, alongside Moon Ga-young. He is also an endorser of many Korean and foreign brands, which adds to his earnings.

Lastly, Heechul’s YouTube channel contributes to his wealth. According to the same Kpopstarz report, he earns around US$155 per month through his channel, which has more than 520,000 subscribers as of writing.

The funny thing is, despite his enormous wealth, Heechul spends his money on games instead of buying himself expensive cars, luxury watches or designer clothes. As detailed on Soompi, the idol revealed on Radio Star how he’s probably spent about US$35,000 on mobile games alone.

“The reason is that if I do that, the game company does well and they can make more games,” he is quoted on Soompi. “Then I get to enjoy a lot of different games.”

For Heechul, instead of buying himself a luxury watch, he can check the time on his cellphone, and rather than owning a sports car, he’d prefer that his character in the game own a car.

Heechul is a huge fan of the video game League of Legends and is a highly ranked player.

Video games aside, the idol is said to be generous to his staff and family, buying them phones and designer items. He also donates to charity causes close to his heart.
