Robyn Rihanna Fenty officially reached billionaire status in 2017 – with an estimated US$1.4 billion of her US$1.7 billion fortune coming from her Fenty Beauty business.

Some 17 years after she hit the music scene with her debut album as a 17-year-old in 2005, then Jay-Z’s protégé, the star has achieved many of the objectives she stated throughout her career.

Here’s how the star manifested her goals and spoke her dreams into existence by the age of just 34.

Rihanna confidently shared her plan to be a music superstar

Rihanna told InStyle magazine in August 2008 about her plans to take over the airwaves – at a time before she released her hits with the likes of Calvin Harris and Drake.

“I still want to be doing what I’m doing at a much bigger capacity – by the grace of God!” the singer said in the cover story interview of how music would fit into her plans for world domination.

But with many aspects of her career and private life thriving, fans are still waiting for new music from Rihanna, whose last album came out in 2016. She claims it’s coming soon.

In that same 2008 interview, Rihanna was open about her mission to take over the fashion runways and beauty store aisles. She said that within 10 years she wanted to have some businesses of her own, including a fashion line and a make-up line.

Her Fenty Beauty brand was an immediate hit after she launched with shades to suit a wide range of skin tones, while competitors still only catered to a narrow market.

And her fashion business is a hit too

Her Savage X Fenty lingerie line continues to thrive, with annual Victoria’s Secret-style fashion shows screened on Amazon Prime. The brand’s many celebrity fans and models have featured in the shows wearing its pieces down the catwalk and in campaigns.

Her high-end fashion brand, which was set to be released under LVMH, didn’t come to fruition after a few hiccups, but it’s expected to pick up again another time. With such a go-getter as Rihanna behind the move, there’s no doubt it will launch when the time is right.

Rihanna was destined for motherhood

Rihanna may have said in 2008 that she wanted to have started a family within the next 10 years but, the star was too busy playing auntie and becoming a billionaire.

In a June 2019 chat with Interview magazine, she declared that she wants babies “more than anything in life”. That September, she told Essence magazine more: “I’m going to give birth to a black woman” as she opened up about the strong type of parent she’s going to be – as modelled on her own mother.

Rihanna – like many other celebrities – has endured pregnancy rumours, but admitted they did not bother her.

“It’s not necessarily everyone’s dream to be a mum … but it’s mine,” Rihanna told Extra in October 2019. In March 2020, she told Vogue she’d have three or four kids within the next 10 years.

“I know I will want to live differently [in 10 years],” Rihanna told Vogue. At the time she’d already met her beau A$AP Rocky, but revealed her relationship status wouldn’t affect her decision to become a mother. “They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness … That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”
