Meet Hong Kong’s heiress ‘princess’ Alexandra von Furstenberg: how the daughter of duty free billionaire Robert Warren Miller married Diane von Furstenberg’s royal son Prince Alexander
Meet 49-year-old Alexandra von Furstenberg, the heiress of a Hong Kong-based billionaire businessman, who leveraged her lofty position and later went on to marry into a fascinating life of both fashion royalty … and actual royalty.
Here’s everything you need to know about Hong Kong’s royal export, Alexandra von Furstenberg.
This billionaire heiress was born and bred in Hong Kong
Glamorous Alexandra von Furstenberg is the daughter of Hong Kong based billionaire Robert Warren Miller, an entrepreneur and co-founder of DFS (Duty Free Shops), and his Ecuadorean wife Maria Clara Pesantes Becerra.
Unlike her two older sisters, Marie-Chantal Claire and Pia Getty, von Furstenberg was born in Hong Kong in 1972.
The girls spent most of their formative years in the former British colony. As they grew up, they eventually split their time between Hong Kong, Paris and New York, according to Australian women’s network 9Honey.
She married an actual prince
The couple have two children, Princess Talita Natasha, born in 1999, and Prince Tassilo Egon Maximillian born in 2001. The couple separated after seven years together in 2002 and eventually divorced.
She’s a creative just he like mother-in-law
The same year she married Prince Alexander, she joined her mother-in-law’s design team and during her 10 years there she served as creative director, and later, director of image, Alexandra von Furstenberg was instrumental in the relaunch of the iconic wrap dress, according to the brand’s biography.
After relocating to California in 2005, Alexandra ditched fashion and focused on designing exclusively for the home instead. In 2007, she created namesake Alexandra Von Furstenberg, LLC, a brand that designs and creates modern furniture and home accessories.
Her sister married into royalty too!
The 53-year-old princess is also the founder and creative director of Marie-Chantal, an international children’s clothing brand that she founded in 2000. The couple have five children and are still together.
Where is she now?
Alexandra von Furstenberg’s royal days are long gone, but as the mother of Princess Talita Natasha and Prince Tassilo, not all ties are lost.
The billionaire heiress found a new prince charming (minus the actual titles) when she wed architectural designer Dax Miller in 2015 at a new luxury property he designed for her and his new royal stepchildren, per AD.
Princess Marie-Chantal Claire attended the nuptials held at the couple’s 18,000 sq ft, five-bedroom Los Angeles home, which sits on what is widely considered to be one of the most expensive streets in all of Los Angeles: South Mapleton Drive in the heart of the Holmby Hills.
However, Alexandra’s children and her eldest sister Pia Getty were notably absent. Mysteriously, they were not featured in any of the many family photos from the lavish event, according to tabloid reports at the time.
