- Meeting a year after the Silicon Valley entrepreneur came under investigation, the pair had a rocky start, with Evans’ family even suspecting her of ‘brainwashing’ him
Here’s what you need to know about their unlikely love story.
The odd first sightings

In 2019, many were shocked at how Holmes and Evans were walking around as “happy as can be”, per Cosmopolitan. Not because they didn’t seem suited to each other, but because Holmes knew she was going to be on trial and could face 20 years behind bars.
His family did not approve

The New York Post reported that Evans’ family did not initially approve of the relationship. Evans’ parents, William and Susan, were very surprised to hear about his decision to marry the woman behind Theranos. A source told the publication that the family thought he had been “brainwashed”, while his friends “sat him down” to have a talk.

His friends were concerned about both the relationship and the impact the then impending trial could have, telling Evans he was not prepared for the onslaught of publicity.
