Vogue reported that Isha was once in the same school class as Mehta’s sister Diya. She then later skipped a year, joining the same class as Mehta. According to Vogue, Isha said, “I’ve been like a third sister to them,” adding that it was as if Mehta was always part of her family.

A fashion and fitness guru to Nita Ambani

The close relationship between Mehta and Ambani matriarch Nita is clear for everyone to see. When they are out at public gatherings, the two are often snapped together, holding hands and showing their affection for each other.

In an interview with Femina, Nita said that Mehta still calls her “Nita auntie”, like she did when she was growing up. Nita also credits Mehta with helping her get fit by leading with a great example, praising her ability to do 150 burpees in one go and the fact that she’s both a foodie and loves to exercise.

If your mother-in-law borrows one of your coats, then you know you’ve got her fashion stamp of approval! Nita was spotted wearing a chinchilla fur coat believed to be Mehta’s. According to BollywoodShaadis, Mehta wore the coat during her pre-wedding festivities back in 2019. Nita was then spotted wearing the same coat sometime later. According to the publication, it is an Yves Salomon coat with a hefty price tag.

She is regularly seen at Ambani family events and private footage leaked from one of them shows just how close she is with Nita, Shloka and Isha.

Footage from Merchant celebrating her birthday with the Ambani clan in London showed the would be future Mrs Ambani feeding patriarch Mukesh Ambani cake while the family gathered around to sing to her.

Nita Ambani’s guidance

The two were holding hands and Nita guided Merchant to stand in front of her so that she could be next to Mukesh in the photos. She hugged her from behind. It definitely seems that the Ambani matriarch is keen to help her sons’ partners through some of the more public events that she is by now already used to.
