Billboard Music Awards 2022 best and worst dressed: from award-winners Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion, to power couples Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott vs Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly
The 2022 Billboard Music Awards lit up Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday night, May 15, with K-pop heroes BTS cleaning up with three major awards: Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist and Top Selling Song for the smash global hit Butter.
Sexy high-slits, cut-outs, body-wrapping dresses, leather mix-ups … here’s our pick of the awards’ best and worst dressed celebrities.
The best dressed …
One of our favourite looks of the night was worn by singer Doja Cat, who picked up four awards in a design from Schiaparelli’s spring/summer 2022 haute couture collection. Created by the brand’s creative director Daniel Roseberry, the elegant two-toned design sports a sculptural corset in black moulded velvet on top of a fairy silk tulle bandeau with a train, and a long skirt in flowing black crepe.
Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly
Megan Fox stunned in a David Koma dress, while her husband Machine Gun Kelly was dressed in Dolce & Gabbana.
Turning out in support of Scott, Kylie Jenner also brought the couple’s four-year-old daughter Stormi onto the Billboard red carpet. The make-up entrepreneur was dressed in a body-wrapping Balmain dress and statement-making bangles.
The Combs sisters
Three’s a charm – as proved by Sean Combs’ brood, with the Combs sisters trio dazzling on the red carpet in contrasting colours and offering a very literal shine.
In monochromatic style, singer Chloe Bailey channelled the midriff-baring trend, donning a black leather dress from Valdrin Sahiti.
Model Heidi Klum dazzled in a Toni Maticevski dress and black knee-high Casadei boots.
The artist known as King Combs showed up in a vibrant yellow outfit from Etro.
Mary J. Blige
Meanwhile Mary J. Blige showed off her fit figure in a black sequinned gown from Julian Macdonald
… and the worst dressed
One of the most off-putting looks of the event, Dove Cameron’s sartorial choice for the BBMAs looked supremely tacky to us, leaving an impression for all the wrong reasons.
Every piece of singer Teyana Taylor’s look is a cool, covetable fashion staple that screams hip-hop, including her Balenciaga x Crocs shoes and Givenchy leather pants … but they did not strike a harmonious chord when gathered together.
Megan Thee Stallion
A big congratulations to Megan Thee Stallion for winning Top Rap Female Artist! While we adore the singer’s shoes and the detailing of her dress, the overall outfit resembles a low-cost beach cover-up.
DJ Khaled’s lilac ensemble appeared slightly ill-fitting.
Cute lace gloves, but Florence Welch’s ruffled dress was slightly overwhelming, with too many details layered together.
Singer Kali Uchis’ sculptural red corset dress from GCDS is a brilliant design in general, but the knitted fabric felt slightly heavy.
Lainey Wilson’s outfit for the evening went awry with the clash of this busy-looking top and flared silver pants.
- Jenner turned out to support her millionaire rapper boyfriend with four-year-old daughter Stormi in tow – stunning in a body-wrapping silver Balmain dress
- Four-award winner Doja Cat also deserved a gong for her Schiaparelli style, but Dove Cameron, Megan Thee Stallion and DJ Khaled all made glaring fashion fails
