Everyone has a type, right? Perhaps not so much any more. Gone are the days when wives had to worry about their husbands leaving them for younger versions of themselves. Just ask Elon Musk.

The richest man in the world has not publicly been a player, and tends to be a one-woman-man if his dating repertoire is anything to go by. While he’s only been in a handful of serious relationships in recent years, one thing is for certain – Musk’s exes moved on to very different new partners.

Talulah Riley, 36, is dating Thomas Brodie-Sangster, 32

British actress Talulah Riley and Musk married in 2010 and had an on-off relationship for many years. In 2012, Musk filed for divorce. However, one year later, the couple remarried and announced they were officially back together. But history sadly repeated itself and, by the end of 2014, Musk filed for divorce a second time, withdrawing it after seven months, before Riley called it quits for good. By 2016, the marriage was officially over and done with.

These days, Riley is dating actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster – as in, the little boy from Love Actually. Yes, he’s 32 now and has had roles in The Queen’s Gambit, Maze Runner and Game of Thrones, but Talulah’s younger partner and his famous boyish looks are certainly a stark contrast to her billionaire businessman ex.

This one still stumps us. In late 2016, Amber Heard randomly started dating Musk soon after her highly publicised divorce from Johnny Depp. It was an unexpected pairing at the time, but they ended up dating for around a year.

After the split, the pair issued a joint statement which read: “The distance has been really tough on our relationship, because we haven’t been able to see each other much.”

Heard’s next serious relationship was with cinematographer Bianca Butti. The couple went public in January 2020. During the relationship, Heard announced she had welcomed a daughter called Oonagh Paige Heard, born on April 8, 2021. Heard and Butti’s relationship lasted for almost two years, but they eventually called it quits in December 2021.

Grimes moved on to trans activist Chelsea Manning

Musk’s relationship with singer Grimes was always an unexpected one – we just smiled and didn’t ask too many questions. The couple first began dating in 2018 and were together for three years before they announced their split in 2021. During that time, they welcomed their first child together in May 2020, who they named X Æ A-12. They later had to change the name X Æ A-Xii to comply with Californian law.

Then early this year, in March 2022, Grimes made another surprise double announcement – she welcomed a second child with Musk, a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. And yes, they were back together. But that was very short-lived.

That same month, Grimes announced they were done, and she was widely linked to notorious whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, although their relationship has not been publicly confirmed.

Manning, a transgender woman, is best known for leaking “thousands of sensitive government documents and diplomatic cables about the American wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to WikiLeaks,” according to The Guardian.
