Behind Heart Evangelista’s fabulous life: 5 not-so-glamorous things to know about the Filipino style icon, from her ‘painful’ IVF treatment to the rumoured split from husband Francis Escudero

- The crazy rich Filipino attends global fashion shows by Victoria Beckham, Hermès and Elie Saab, but still loves street food and numbs her feet to wear heels for longer
- She’s been working as a model and actress since she was 13, loves rustic bagoong shrimp paste, and used to eat lunch in the school bathroom to avoid bullies
This past week, Heart revealed that she is expecting her first two children after undergoing in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, describing it as “one of the toughest, challenging times” in her life.

Evangelista, who suffered a miscarriage in 2018, told fashion magazine L’Officiel Philippines: “I had three injections a day over a two-week process. After harvesting and the processes that came after, they were able to gather the perfect boy and the perfect girl,” Evangelista said, who is already stepmother to Chesi and Quino, children from husband Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero’s earlier relationship.
“I actually have a baby boy and a baby girl waiting for me.”
Evangelista did not specify whether she was referring to cryopreservation, where embryos are frozen and stored for later use, or whether she is currently pregnant.
Evangelista’s interview with the magazine came amid rumours her seven-year marriage to Escudero, 52, was on the rocks. The couple has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.
