Meet Denmark’s lucky teen Princess Isabella: Queen Margrethe’s eldest granddaughter got to keep her royal title, is a budding fashion icon and shares her birthday with the late Queen Elizabeth
In her slimmed-down monarchy, only the kids of her eldest son, 54-year-old Crown Prince Frederik, will remain princes and princesses of Denmark.
Among those fortunate enough to retain their title is Princess Isabella, who is only 15 years old. So what are some of the fascinating things to know about the teenage royal?
Princess Isabella is the elder daughter of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary
Born on April 21, 2007, Princess Isabella is one of four young children of Crown Prince Frederik with Crown Princess Mary. She has an older brother, Prince Christian, 16, and two younger siblings, twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 11.
The eldest granddaughter of Queen Margrethe, Isabella is third in the line of succession to the Danish throne – just behind Prince Christian and the crown prince himself.

A week later, the teenage princess was seen sporting a blue checkered blazer reminiscent of her grandmother’s plaid look from the recent appearance.
She borrows clothes from her mum … and lends hers too
Princess Isabella doesn’t only take after the power dressing queen, but her sophisticated mum as well.
At her confirmation early this year, the Danish princess was pictured wearing an elegant white blazer with matching trousers. According to People, the outfit was previously worn by her mum, Crown Princess Mary, on a 2017 visit to Sweden.
In what seems to be a family tradition of passing on wardrobe pieces, Princess Josephine also reportedly wore her elder sister’s dress once.

In January 2020, Isabella, Christian, Vincent and Josephine started a supposed three-month-long exchange at Lemania-Verbier International School in Switzerland. However, in an official announcement made by the royal family in March 2020, the crown prince and princess decided that the young royals would come home due to the spread of Covid-19.
More recently, in August, the monarchy announced that Princess Isabella would be starting her ninth form at Ingrid Jespersens Gymnasieskole in Copenhagen.
She shares a birthday with Queen Elizabeth
One fun fact about the Danish princess is that she shares the same birthday as the late Queen Elizabeth.
