  • The Serbian star is known for making odd comments about food and drink, once saying he drank a ‘magic potion’ during his Wimbledon game with Jannik Sinner
  • He’s reportedly switched to a strict gluten-free diet after failing a bread strength test and told wellness guru Chervin Jafarieh that water reacts to emotions

It’s no question that some athletes follow strange diets that go beyond the perimeters of your “typical” healthy diet.
Tennis legend Novak Djokovic for one has made some odd claims about food and drink over the years. He drinks “magic potions” and believes it is possible to manipulate the colour of water through emotions.

So, what are some of the Serbian’s most strangest ever moments involving food and drink?

1. Magic potions

At this year’s Wimbledon, 35-year-old Djokovic appeared to inhale from a water bottle during his quarter final victory over Jannik Sinner.

Later asked about the contents of the bottle, the 21-time grand slam champion refused to elaborate and described the drink as a “magic potion”.

“I said you will find out soon, but not so soon,” he said.

“It’s going to come out as one of the supplement, let’s say, [product] lines that I’m doing right now with drink and few other things, sports drinks.”

Joking with a reporter, he added: “You’ll try it, and you’ll let me know how it feels. You might win Wimbledon.”
