She recycled a festive, sequinned floor-length gown in November 2021 that she had custom made two years before. The then-Duchess of Cambridge dazzled at the Royal Variety Performance in London – it was the same custom Jenny Packham gown she wore during her royal tour of Pakistan in 2019.

For her first Christmas with the royal family in 2017, Meghan Markle wore a stylish US$1,495 camel-coloured tie coat by Sentaler. She complemented the coat with brown suede boots, a matching hat and a tan-and-red Chloé bag.

In the Harry & Meghan Netflix docuseries, which premiered in December 2022, Markle said that she “rarely wore colour” at royal engagements. Part of the reason for her neutral wardrobe was royal protocol, which she said to her understanding dictated that royals couldn’t wear the same colour as higher-ranking family members, but she also said she was doing her best to “blend in” and not “ruffle any feathers”.

18. A matching look for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

One of the last appearances the couple made as working royals was at the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey in March 2020. Prince Harry’s green suit jacket lining was customised to match Meghan’s Emilia Wickstead dress.

In their Netflix docuseries, Markle said that she wanted to “look like a rainbow” during her final week of royal engagements in a departure from the neutral colours she usually wore.
