7 times Michelle Yeoh stunned in statement high jewellery: from Moussaieff at the Golden Globes where she won best actress, to Richard Mille, Chopard, Chaumet and her ring in Crazy Rich Asians
Michelle Yeoh just started off the year with one of the greatest moments of her career: winning the best actress in a motion picture award at the Golden Globes for her performance in the 2022 comedy-action film Everything Everywhere All at Once. She became the first Malaysian actress in history to do so.
Yeoh stepped on stage to give an inspirational speech while wearing one of the most beautiful gowns and statement jewellery at the event. The action star has proven time and time again that she never fails to impress at red carpets and her love for jewellery always speaks for itself.
Considering all the bling that she has worn throughout the years, here are seven of her best dazzling gems she has showed up to events in …
1. Moussaieff Jewellers necklace
Yeoh started off 2023 by winning a Golden Globes award for her role as Evelyn Quan Wang in the sci-fi action flick Everything Everywhere All at Once. The 60-year-old wore a gorgeous Armani Privé gown and topped it off with a dazzling necklace from Moussaieff Jewellers, one of the world’s finest high jewellery brands, reported Vogue.
This show-stopping accessory is composed of pear, cushion and round diamonds. She accompanied the necklace with an emerald and diamond bangle, as well as a diamond ring. The jewellery was chosen by Alisa Moussaieff herself, the owner of the brand label, who has been friends with Yeoh for years, per Vogue. Yeoh absolutely shone along with her diamonds as she gracefully accepted the award for her film.
2. Tasaki necklace and Richard Mille watch
After a year and more of the pandemic shutting down all events, the Met Gala 2022 was one of the firsts to pop up in a post-pandemic world. And with it came all the glitz and glam of movie stars, complete with long-flowing dresses and blinding accessories.
Yeoh was certainly no exception as she strode along the red carpet. She wore a breathtaking diamond necklace from the Tasaki brand. The neck piece was from the brand’s Atelier collection and is called “Frost Valley”, per Gem One Diamond.
Her wrist was also decorated with a Richard Mille RM07-01 watch adorned with diamonds. Yeoh has a special connection to the watch as she is also a brand ambassador of the label. Richard Mille, the owner of the brand, is also friends with Jean Todt, Yeoh’s partner. Mille was immediately drawn to Yeoh and her personality, per the brand’s website. Yeoh and Mille have done numerous collaborations together and the latter was impressed by the actress’ natural artistic talents, stated the same source.
3. Moussaieff yellow diamond set
Wherever Yeoh goes, she shines. At the 2019 BAFTA awards, Yeoh was said to be wearing the most valuable diamonds of that night – the Moussaieff yellow diamond set, per The Jewellery Editor.
Yeoh’s high-priced pieces were designed with an eye-popping 74-carat natural fancy intense yellow diamond pendant surrounded by another 80 carats of white diamonds, which was believed to be worth more than all of the other jewellery in the Albert Hall, per the article. Yeoh’s set came with matching earrings that were also made from 17 carats of the same yellow diamonds with another seven carats of white diamonds, states the source.
4. The famous emerald ring
That same year, Yeoh stunned at the 2019 Golden Globes with her striking emerald ring. This ring became famous after she wore it in the movie Crazy Rich Asians while she played Eleanor Young, the mean future mum-in-law to Rachel Chu (played by Constance Wu) in the film.
What makes the emerald ring truly fascinating though is that she didn’t borrow it from the movie’s costume department – it was actually hers in real life and the movie crew borrowed it from Yeoh for the character, as per People. The article mentions that there was already a ring designed that Yeoh’s character had to wear, but it apparently looked so terrible that the martial arts star declined to wear it.
Instead, she offered to bring her own piece from her personal jewellery collection, which finally appeared in the movie. During the Golden Globes, Yeoh wore this green stunner with an similarly coloured emerald gown.
5. Moussaieffdiamond earrings
Once a Bond girl herself in Tomorrow Never Dies opposite Pierce Brosnan, Yeoh showed up for the premiere of the Daniel Craig’s James Bond film No Time to Die in 2021 at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Yeoh sparkled yet again in her choice of Moussaieff’s magnificent hoop earrings. While the design appears simple and elegant, the earrings were actually comprised of 30.37 carats of oval- and circle-shaped diamonds, per the brand’s website.
6. Chopard necklace
Yeoh has shown that she can make anything work, from elegant and sophisticated pieces to more modern and loud styles. The Cannes 2017 film festival saw her wearing a true statement necklace that could have been easily mistaken as part of her black and white Gyunel gown.
The necklace was a piece selected from Chopard’s 2017 Red Carpet Collection – 18-carat white gold and titanium featuring all sorts of gems including a black opal, spinels, sapphires, diamonds, opals, tsavorites and amethysts, per The Jewellery Editor.
7. Chaumet Lumières d’Eau set
Wearing an exquisite and exceptional Lumières d’Eau set by Chaumet, Yeoh appeared with a mega blingy necklace for the premiere of Julieta directed by Pedro Almodóvar at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival, according to a post from the jeweller.
The set Yeoh wore included an emerald and diamond necklace, a bracelet and a ring in white gold. All her jewels of the night had their share of emeralds, diamonds and chrysoprase, which gave off a jade-green look.
The Malaysian actress is known for dazzling red carpets and the Golden Globes was no exception as she collected her historic best actress award for Everything Everywhere All at Once wearing Moussaieff
A former Bond girl, Yeoh attended Daniel Craig’s No Time to Die premiere in earrings from the same brand, and has worn Chopard and Chaumet at Cannes Film Festivals and a Tasaki piece at the Met Gala
