10 of Tina Leung’s most iconic outfits in NYC and Hong Kong: from the Bling Empire: New York Slaysian’s Chanel boots and tiger-print Celine dress, to her Marc Jacobs two-piece and metallic Jimmy Choos
She may have been born in Hong Kong and got her first big break here, but NYC is where she’s unleashing her true fashion self these days.
Tina Leung is one of the OG Instagram fashion influencers. Over the past decade, she has befriended, bedazzled and bowled over the “you can’t sit with us” fashion elites. Now her star is shining even brighter thanks to Netflix’s Bling Empire: New York, where viewers are getting to know the other side of Leung. The fashionista is also the gal who cries when she is late for a fashion week event and who openly speaks about how hard she has had to work to get to where she is today.
We delve into Leung’s love of the two cities and how she shows off different fashion styles in each …
NYC – conquering the concrete jungle
Whether donning glitzy day looks while waiting for a cab or a patchwork jersey at a fancy event, her looks not only make her stand out in the city, but are also crowd-pleasers.
The Gucci-loving influencer has said that the Big Apple allows her to be different. “I’m a little more kooky in New York. I feel like I can let it all out and make however many mistakes I want,” she told Fashionista.
It’s this ability to be brave in fashion that has seen her evolve and work with top brands and designers.
Here are a few of her looks in NYC that have sent fans scrambling to double-tap on Instagram, pin on their Pinterest boards and reshare on their fashion blogs.
1. Marc Jacobs
The fashionista attended Marc Jacobs’ Perfect Party at Hotel Chelsea in December 2022. She showed her appreciation for the designer by wearing a look from his stand-out autumn/winter 2022 collection, per Hong Kong media.
2. Mugler
Leung wore a Mugler cut-out catsuit designed by Casey Cadwallader for the opening of the “Thierry Mugler: Couturissime” exhibition. The event was held at the Brooklyn Museum in November 2022.
3. Jimmy Choo
4. Peter Do
The Vietnamese-American designer is known for his minimalist looks and Leung paired one of his oversized coats perfectly with trousers and a sports bra in September 2022.
5. Area
New York fashion label Area got all the love when Leung wore a flared denim dress from its range. Throw in a Hello Kitty bag and the influencer again showed her versatility. Next to a quintessential brick-and-stone block of flats in NYC, Leung created the perfect scene for her snap posted in September 2022.
Hong Kong – where the magic began
Leung has enjoyed an ongoing love affair with Hong Kong. It was where she was born, after all. She left when she was two, then returned at age 11 and later got her first big break as a writer and stylist in the city. Some would say that Hong Kong incubated much of her talent.
As previously reported, she’s told the story of how, one day, she was at a salon having her hair done when her stylist introduced her to a man who had started a magazine. That man was Gordon Lam from Prestige. She landed a job and soon her blog Tina Loves garnered a cult following. She said the job caught her by surprise and that she had “no intention of staying in Hong Kong”.
Leung has describes her Hong Kong style to Fashionista as more “ladylike”. She told Monica Vinader that she loves visiting Star Street in Wan Chai because of its “cute” and “hippie” feel. According to Leung, local style can be summed up as “modern, practical and adaptable”.

7. Bally
Leung went for a light and flowy feel when she wore this head-to-toe ensemble from the luxury Swiss fashion house. The outfit was part of the spring/summer 2019 collection and Leung wore it to the BallyxSwizzxShok1HK event, as seen on her Instagram.
8. Michelle Mason and Chanel
9. Anya Hindmarch
10. Esprit
Leung brought “teen spirit” with full 90s vibes for this designer collab with Esprit, as she mentions on her Instagram. She donned the outfit for an impromptu shoot in Happy Valley back in 2017.
