Rihanna’s skincare secrets, revealed: the NFL Super Bowl star and Fenty billionaire maintains her glowing look with sun cream, US$800 facials, coconut water, vitamin IV drips and ‘soap brows’
The world has missed Rihanna.
After what seemed like a very long wait, the Barbadian singer tore up the stage at the annual NFL Super Bowl halftime show on February 12 in Arizona. And one thing we couldn’t help but notice as she was performing? The new mum’s flawless complexion.
So, how does the Fenty skincare guru do it?
1. Daily sun cream
Beauticians and dermatologists alike have been stressing the importance of applying sunscreen for decades, but the 34-year-old said that growing up in Barbados, she thought it was a “tourist” thing to do and “not for black people”, according to an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment.

She’s since learned otherwise “the hard way”, and today swears by her Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor, adding in an interview in Elle, “honestly, guys: protect yourselves”.
2. Electro Fusion Facial
According to Refinery29, Rihanna heads to NYC’s Tracie Martyn spa before big events like the Met Gala. Her custom US$800 “Electro Fusion Facial” starts with a 15-minute session in a Ruby Ray LED light bed, followed by crystal-free diamond microdermabrasion and an enzyme exfoliating mask, among others. Martyn’s work is also loved by clients Kate Winslet and Brad Pitt, to name a few.
3. Whipped oil body creams
4. Lots of coconut water
Remember when Rihanna was the face of Vita Coco back in 2011?
Well, apparently she still loves the refreshing drink, which is hardly surprising given that her hometown is a tropical paradise. “I hydrate with coconut water and everything just has to be super high in moisture to keep my body hydrated,” the Ocean’s 8 actress told Billboard in 2022.

5. Sprays for that “wet look”
Rihanna applies facial sprays to get that desired “wet look”, according to Hola! Her go-to products include the Caudalie Beauty Elixir and Marc Jacobs Re (cover) Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist.
6. Soaps are a no-no – except on the brows
According to Fabbon, soaps don’t make it into Rihanna’s skincare routine, as they can be harsh on the skin. Instead she opts for natural cleansers.
Soaps do make a brief appearance when her make-up artist Priscilla Ono gets involved, however, as she uses a specific bar of soap to set eyebrows, reported Harper’s Bazaar. Ono says it gives that fluffed up and feathery “editorial brow” look that make-up aficionados are obsessed with.
7. Bright lips
When you’re a natural beauty like Rihanna, something as simple as a red lip is enough to glam up a look without much else. In an interview with E!, the “Kiss it Better” artist said that lipstick can change your attitude instantly: “You even talk different. Your mouth moves differently. Everything. It’s a transformer for real.”

8. A gentle cleanser
After long days of photo shoots, business meetings, music masterminding and more, Rihanna never fails to skip her beauty turn-down routine and swears by her gentle Total Cleans’r for face washing, according to a video she posted online.
“My skin feels really supple and really soft because as I was cleansing our Total Cleans’r adds nutrients right back into your skin,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.
9. Working out and eating well
At an Apple Music press conference in February, the “We Found Love” songstress said that the physical challenges had been immense. “I haven’t done this in a minute, first things first. You’re just running around for 13 minutes trying to put a two-hour set in 13 minutes. And you’re gonna see on Sunday, from the time it starts, it just never ends until the very last second.”
Previously, her favourite workouts included cardio five times a week via exercises like biking, jogging, skipping rope and jumping jacks, Pop Sugar reported.

According to a Prevention article in 2020, Rihanna also has a personal chef – a fellow Caribbean woman – who tries to incorporate flavours from her hometown with a healthy spin.
10. Vitamin IV drips
Hollywood wellness fads are a dime a dozen, but vitamin IV drips had their moment for a good few years. According to The Guardian, Rihanna, Madonna, Katy Perry, Rita Ora and Gwyneth Paltrow are all known to have tried it and, subsequently, helped the practice go mainstream.
The treatment involves a cocktail of vitamins, collagens and nutrients being directly injected into the bloodstream, and is said to offer anti-ageing and immunity-boosting effects. Despite the fact that there is little scientific evidence to confirm its benefits, the practice still remains popular across the globe.
