Jenna Ortega has been all over the internet recently thanks to her viral dance moves and scenes from her iconic role as Wednesday Addams in the 2022 Netflix series Wednesday. And while she captured the audience’s hearts with her performance, she has also been impressing fans with fashion choices during premieres, press tours and red carpet events.

Lately, she turned heads when she showed up to the 2023 SAG Awards in a black ensemble that resembled something the fictional Ms Addams would probably wear. But this isn’t the first time Ortega has matched her outfits to her gothic Netflix series’ character.

Here are seven times she’s channelled a Wednesday-like wardrobe:

1. Black vintage

Ortega brought gothic glamour to the SAG 2023 Awards where she was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series for her role in Wednesday.
During the ceremony, Ortega channelled her character’s dark energy with an all black, thigh-high slit leather dress from Versace’s archives. The vintage gown was taken from the label’s 1994 collection and was designed by the late Gianni Versace himself, per Vogue.

The dress originally came with a single shoulder strap but Ortega made minor adjustments and removed the shoulder design. The 20-year-old added bling to her look by pairing her dress with Tiffany & Co. jewels including the Schlumberger diamond and gold necklace. She completed her outfit with heels from Jimmy Choo.

2. The “Corpse Bride” dress

Solidifying her scream queen status, Ortega showed up for the premiere of Wednesday in Los Angeles by wearing a gothic “corpse bride”-inspired dress and veil – perfectly in line with the dark and creepy theme of her Netflix series.

The black satin slip along with the veil is another Versace number from the spring/summer 2023 ready-to-wear show. The look originally incorporated matching lace gloves but Ortega decided to drop them for her own take.

3. A gothic uniform

For her guest appearance on the Today Show promoting Wednesday, Ortega went for a more creative approach by donning a “school uniform” style outfit with a black overcoat, palazzo pants, tie and a white shirt. The black trench was lined with a cheetah print, however, which gave the almost all-black outfit an exciting twist for onlookers. The entire look is from Dolce & Gabbana, per Red Carpet Fashion.

4. French lace

While Ortega often channels her Wednesday character’s high school vibes, the 20-year-old actress opted for a look that was more Morticia Addams than anything else for her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Ortega’s daring approach involved a long-sleeved half-French lace dress from Dion Lee’s autumn 2022 collection. The young actress went with a longer hairstyle than usual and completed her outfit with a pair of Christian Louboutin open-toe heels that helped set off her very feminine aesthetic.

5. One-shoulder gown

Ortega took to the stage at The Critics Choice Association’s 2nd Annual Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television with her edgy gothic glam and gave a speech after she was given the Rising Star Award for Television.

The Latina actress chose to wear a sheer black Saint Laurent dress with mesh fabric that featured a single sleeve that flowed into a glove. The figure-hugging material made for a fabulous silhouette too.

6. Collars and belts

Speaking about her viral dance scene from Wednesday along with her experience of working with Tim Burton, Ortega wowed on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in a long-sleeved collared dress from Dolce & Gabbana. Her ensemble also featured a metal corset belt with lock and key also from the Italian fashion house.

7. Corset suit

At the same Golden Globes event where Ortega had appeared in a peppy, pastel-coloured Gucci gown, she also sported a more macabre look. She swapped her vibrant Disney-like dress for a corset suit for the event’s after party, ET Canada reported.

The outfit consisted of a black-and-white mesh corset, buttoned collar, black trousers and a black coat draped over her shoulder. The entire look is from Dolce & Gabbana, and looks like it was plucked right out of Wednesday’s wardrobe.
