The social media darling, who recently celebrated her birthday on July 11, has a whopping 162,000 (and counting) Instagram followers. With each post, she takes her global audience on a journey through jet-setting adventures, exquisite dinners, coveted luxury handbags and a wardrobe filled with designer pieces from Chanel, Jacquemus, Versace and more.
From glamorous red carpet events to the sun-soaked fields of Coachella, Lam’s Insta adventures are a visual feast for her adoring fans. Not only do we love her envy-inducing wardrobe, but her A-list pals, with names ranging from Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh to Blackpink’s Rosé, will also leave anyone awestruck.
As she carves her own path away from her famous parents’ pedigree, we can’t help but admire that Elly Lam is establishing herself as a true trendsetter in her own right.
So, what else to know about Hong Kong’s own “It” girl?
Elly Lam has an affluent family
Born into a world of wealth and fame, Elly is the daughter of esteemed Hong Kong tycoon Peter Lam and former Taiwanese actress-turned-painter Lynn Hsieh. They got married in 1980 but filed for divorce in 1993.
Whether it’s attending a glamorous Chanel gala dinner with her stylish mother or celebrating birthdays alongside her twin, Elly also has a special closeness with her big sister, affectionately calling her “Emmy bear” and looking up to her as a role model.
She made her society debut in Paris
Back in 2015, Lam had the honour of being one of the 24 young women who made their society debut at the esteemed Le Bal des Debutantes in Paris. The prestigious event took place at the Hotel Raphael, located in the heart of the captivating city. The Pepperdine graduate made a stunning entrance, adorned in a breathtaking Dior couture gown.
“I love the gorgeous beadings and intricate details such as pockets on each side, which are perfect for a lip gloss and an iPhone. It also comes with a tuxedo jacket, which gives the gown an edge,” she told us back in 2015.
Her Hollywood connection
As we scroll through Lam’s Instagram page, we can’t help but be amazed by the slew of famous faces she has had the pleasure of hosting during their visits to Hong Kong.
As if that’s not enough, Lam has also shared the stage dancing with one of the world’s biggest female rappers Nicki Minaj, and struck a pose next to supermodel Gigi Hadid at a private British Vogue soirée last year.
Designer duds and handbags
Just like other socialites and rich “It” girls, Lam takes great pleasure in curating a wardrobe filled with the world’s finest designer clothing, handbags and shoes.
She has worn exquisite Gucci ensembles on multiple occasions but also surprised us with a Giambattista Valli haute couture number.
Her shoes range from breathtaking Roger Vivier heels to Prada pumps, adding a touch of elegance to her overall look. But what we adore the most is her trove of luxurious handbags. She loves her Hermès bags and keeps up with the latest must-have items like the neon pink Valentino Garavani.
Jet-setting life
From snow-filled Hokkaido to the extraordinary Coachella festival, Lam’s love for travel and luxury knows no bounds. The socialite also seeks serene retreats and frequently returns to beautiful tropical islands like Bali.
From the luxurious W Bali and The Apurva Kempinski Bali to the exclusive Amanusa private villa in the Nusa Dua area, priced from US$2,000 to US$3,000 per night according to the official website, she indulges in opulent stays like there’s no tomorrow.
During her stay in the Balkan state, she lived in the enchanting Villa Miločer at Aman Sveti Stefan, a former summer residence of Queen Marija Karadordević. A night’s stay in the villa ranges from US$1,000 to US$2,000, providing a truly luxurious experience for our Hong Kong “It” girl.
