  • It’s been a year since Depp won his defamation lawsuit against Heard and now he’s back in the limelight starring as Louis XV in his new film Jeanne du Barry, the opening film for Cannes Film Festival
  • Meanwhile, Heard has been shying away from the public eye; in fact, after selling her Yucca Valley home in California, it seems she’s swapped Hollywood for beach life in Spain, according to reports

It’s been little over a year since the trial of Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard revealed astonishing details about their relationship. From obscene messages to alleged substance abuse, the trial arguably shook the reputation of both Hollywood actors to an extent.

Following his win (the jury ruled in favour of Depp’s claim of defamation across three counts), Depp has seemingly edged his way back into Hollywood favour. His film Jeanne du Barry, in which he stars as Louis XV, has been selected as the opening film at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival. But what about Heard?

The Aquaman star, who had already tried to stay out of the spotlight ahead of the trial, has barely been spotted in public since it all ended. As it turns out, it seems she has quietly quit Hollywood (for now) and started afresh in Spain.

Here’s what you need to know about Heard’s life in 2023 …

Last April marked the start of a six-week trial between Depp and Heard that flooded headlines. Although their marriage lasted just over a year, with Heard filing for divorce in May 2016 after 15 months, their relationship spans a decade.

Within those six weeks, the world got a glimpse inside what was described as a volatile and often strange relationship between the Hollywood A-listers.

The basis of the trial? Depp, 59, claimed Heard, 37, had defamed him in a 2018 op-ed on The Washington Post. In the column, she referred to herself as a public figure representing domestic abuse, although she didn’t mention Depp’s name.
