Melanie Hamrick was formerly with the American Ballet Theatre

The Virginia-born dancer started learning ballet from an early age, per People. She’s trained with renowned ballerina Alla Sizova as well as instructors Nicolai Morozov and Adrienne Dellas.

In 2004, she joined the American Ballet Theatre, performing in shows like Apollo and The Nutcracker. According to The New York Times, she retired from ballet theatre in 2019 after 15 years of work, and is now pursuing choreography.

She got a US$100,000 promise ring from Mick Jagger

Per British media, Hamrick received a US$100,000 promise ring from Jagger. “I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes. But … In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring,” she told People.

She once wrote an erotic novel

Earlier this year, Hamrick published her first erotic novel titled First Position. The work of fiction follows a driven young ballerina, with some story elements “loosely based on some truths backstage” of Hamrick’s life as a dancer, per Vanity Fair.
