“She would call me by all of Matthew’s ex-girlfriends’ names, she would start speaking Spanish with me in a very broken way, kind of putting [me] down a bit. I mean, all kinds of stuff,” said the model.
Eventually, Alves said she realised she had to “fight back” to get her hubby’s mother’s approval and now “she has so much respect for me”.

Per Us Weekly, The Wolf of Wall Street actor, now 53, met his then future wife at a bar in Los Angeles back in 2006. “That night I spoke 25 minutes of the best Spanish I’ve ever spoken in my life,” said McConaughey in an interview with Howard Stern over a decade later, adding, “She spoke Portuguese. I don’t think I ever understood Portuguese as well as I did that night. I was focused. It worked.”
