Deion Sanders and Tracey Edmonds have officially called it quits, after being engaged for four years, the couple announced on December 3.

“We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life as friends and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together,” Edmonds wrote on Instagram.

The news comes just days after Sanders was named Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year.

Sanders and Edmonds, both 56, first met at a film premiere party back in 2012 for a film that Edmonds had produced, according to People magazine. The same source states that they managed to navigate being in a long-distance relationship for much of their romance.

Tracey Edmonds was born in February 1967 in Los Angeles, California, to her parents George and Jacqueline McQuarn.

According to People, Edmonds has over 25 years experience in the TV and film industry. She runs her own production company, Edmonds Entertainment Group, where she currently serves as the CEO. The entrepreneur used to work as a TV journalist and co-hosted ExtraTV from 2014 to 2017 alongside Mario Lopez and Charissa Thompson, winning a Daytime Emmy for her part on the show to boot, per People.

She’s produced films including New in Town, End of the Road and The Postcard Killings, as seen on her IMDB.

Per her LinkedIn, the Stanford graduate is also the founder and president of AlrightNow/AlrightTV. Her IMDB profile also states that she served on the Board of Governors for the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and on the Board of Trustees for the American Film Institute.

Edmonds got engaged to the two-time Super Bowl champion in February 2019, per People.

 

In a celebratory post on Instagram, Edmonds shared her excitement: “God is so good! We’re eight years in, made it through the storms together, and will be spending the rest of our lives together!”

She added, “To all the couples out there … stay real with each other, listen to each other, and most of all … keep love and God in your heart. When you do, you can make it through any storm! Spread love and joy on this day!”. The former couple ended their relationship amicably, based on her most recent post announcing their split.

Edmonds is a proud mama to her two sons, Brandon and Dylan, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Per People, she shares a close relationship with both of her children and has worked hard to “[raise] my kids the same way that my parents raised me” and to “keep them out of the Hollywood craziness”.

Edmonds was married to Babyface from 1992 to 2005, before the couple called it quits. She then tied the knot for the second time with Hollywood funnyman Eddie Murphy in 2008, but the marriage was short lived as they announced they were going their separate ways less than two weeks later, People reported.

In a joint statement announcing their split, Edmonds and Murphy said, “it is not necessary to define our relationship further”.
