The 2024 US presidential elections is gaining momentum as the race for party presidential nominees heats up, with Trump projected to win the Republican spot. In particular, Taylor Swift and her apparent ability to influence votes has gained plenty of attention.
Per Billboard, Swift shared a post on Instagram last year that resulted in 35,000 new voter registrations. A recent conspiracy theory around Swift and her supposed relationship with US president Joe Biden has also gained momentum. A poll by The Guardian found that just under a fifth of Americans believe that Swift is part of a conspiracy to help Biden get re-elected in November.

In 2020, Swift endorsed Biden over Trump – a move the White House is apparently seeking again. And although Swift has remained mum on her political decision so far, other celebrities have not been shy to voice their support for their candidates.

Rapper-turned-country music star Kid Rock offered his support to Trump back in 2016. Multiple outlets have since reported on their “friendship”, with the pair attending UFC fights and golfing together at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago. In 2022, at the start of his Bad Reputation tour, Kid Rock aired a personalised video message from Trump where the former US president described the musician as “one of the greatest entertainers of our time”.

2. Kelsey Grammer

In December, Paramount+ representatives cut short an interview that Grammer was giving to the BBC after the conversation turned to his support of Trump. Grammer himself reportedly appeared happy to speak about his political choices despite his reps’ intervention.

The Frasier star has endorsed Trump since 2016. In 2018, he supported Trump’s decision to withdraw from the G20 climate agreement, claiming at the time that climate change was not a serious issue, per Newsweek.

3. Jason Aldean

Trump definitely seems to be popular among the country music set. Country star Aldean appeared to endorse Trump in an interview with the LA Times in late 2023. He told the publication that he had spent time with Trump and didn’t have anything negative to say about him: “I like Trump. Hung out with him a couple times. [He’s] been very cool to me. I have nothing but good things to say about the guy.”

4. Jon Voight

Angelina Jolie’s father and Oscar-winning actor Voight endorsed Trump in 2016 and 2020. OK! magazine reported in February that Voight has compared Trump to biblical figures, saying, “he promised hospitality and fought battles”.

Voight later referenced Jesus’ teachings: “Believe [ …] that the man that can help this nation. The one man that was ridiculed, destroyed as Jesus, Trump, can come back and save the American dream for all. And make America great with the dignity, with the power of who he is.” However, it isn’t clear what Voight means by claiming Trump was “destroyed” like the Christian son of God.

Comedian and TV host Barr has been unwavering in her support for Trump. In 2023, while on Real America’s Voice, a right-wing streaming channel, Barr said she “lost control of myself” when meeting Trump, who she called “Mother Bear”. She added that she told him, “We know that you’re the only one with balls.”

But Ye spoke about running for president in 2024, per Newsweek, with Trump as his deputy. Ye claimed Trump was “screaming” at him after his suggestion. The rapper later said he would still support Trump even though he was “known for lying”, without elaborating on the context.

8. Dennis Quaid

Hollywood royal Dennis Quaid doesn’t normally talk politics, but in 2020 he applauded Trump’s approach to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although he has claimed he is an Independent, he said Trump’s travel ban was a “great idea”.

Per The Hill, the Reagan star said, “I’ve voted both ways throughout my life, swinging like a pendulum toward what the country needed at the time.”
