As we’ve learned over the years, nothing is always as it may seem when it comes to reality TV and what truly goes on behind the scenes.

Such is the case with Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, who has recently been accused of being “abusive” and having “rage issues”, as revealed in a new exposé published by Rolling Stone on Tuesday.

In the article, sources describe Van Ness as being a “nightmare”, “monster” and “demeaning”, claiming they would “explode at least once a week”. Others added that the hair guru “stood out in terms of unprofessionalism, with their various moods dictating how the day would go”.

“[There’s] a real emotion of fear around them when they get angry. It’s almost like a cartoon where it oozes out of them,” one source who worked with Van Ness explained to the publication. “It’s intense and scary.”

Two sources added that certain members of the Fab Five – including Bobby Berk, who recently left the show – refused to shoot scenes with Van Ness. “He didn’t want to ever share the spotlight with anyone. There were times when we couldn’t even shoot scenes with certain members of the Fab Five together because it got so bad,” said a production member.
