Taylor Swift is famous for her squad of (very talented) A-list friends, but less is known about her low-key friendship with Jaime King.

The American model-turned-actress, who’s 10 years older than the “Anti-Hero” singer, used to be considered one of Swift’s BFFs back in the day. In fact, they were so close that King even asked Swift to be the godmother of her second baby, Leo Thames. “She’s going to be, like, the best godmother in the whole world,” King previously told People. “The best.”

Although King used to share pics of the pair hanging out together when she was pregnant and after she gave birth, it’s unclear whether they are still as close today.

Nevertheless, King does continue to refer to Swift’s music in her Instagram captions, with one in December reading: “I’ve been the archer….” seemingly referring to Swift’s song “The Archer”. The post sent Reddit users into a frenzy trying to figure out whether they’re still besties.

Here’s everything we know about their friendship so far:

Who is Jaime King?

A 90s modelling icon, Jaime King also enjoyed a career in acting, and is best known for her roles in Hart of Dixie, the Sin City film series, White Chicks, Barely Lethal, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Pearl Harbour, according to her IMDB profile. She was married to Kyle Newman from 2007 to 2020. Besides Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba is also a godmother to one of her children, according to People.

How did Taylor Swift and Jaime King meet?

According to Business Insider, Swift, 34, and King, 44, first met at a Golden Globes party in 2014. Fans even got a glimpse into their first encounter, with King sharing a video of the pair dancing at the event on her Instagram in 2018. Per Business Insider, King’s then-husband Newman also directed the music video for Swift’s hit “Style”.

Are Taylor Swift and Jaime King still friends?

According to Business Insider, King and Swift are still close and just prefer having quieter nights in together, as evidenced by a photo King shared of the two reading in bed together in 2019.

King is clearly a mega-fan of Swift’s music, whatever their friendship status. In 2014, King sang her friend’s praises in an interview with E!, saying: “This album [Swift’s 1989], I could not tell you how amazing it is. I’m trying to wrack my brain to try to think of an album that I’ve loved this much in the past 10 years. It’s very difficult for me to think of one that’s so solid as an album, all the way through as a whole.”

Swift’s friendship group continues to expand, although not all of its original members are still in the circle. These days, she’s most often seen hanging out with long-time besties Blake Lively, Selena Gomez and Emma Stone, while newcomers include fellow NFL WAGs Kylie Kelce, Brittany Mahomes and Lyndsay Bell.
