In Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise’s second episode, which aired on Tuesday, Chambers says she is protective about her kids’ perception of their father. “I’m fiercely protecting my children, which is why we’re still here [living on the island],” Chambers told her co-star Julian Foster.

She added, “They have – thank God – no idea about what is going on. My children are visibly happy. They should think that their dad is a superhero. And to be fair, he has been to them. He’s been the best he can be.”

Chambers adds that she refuses to trash talk her ex to the public: “I don’t speak negatively about him in the press. I don’t speak negatively about him to my children. Because nobody wants a daughter with daddy issues, and nobody wants a son with daddy issues.”

Hammer – who came to prominence playing the Winklevoss twins in 2010’s The Social Network, as well as in 2017’s Oscar-nominated Call Me By Your Name with co-star Timothée Chalamet – was accused of “emotional abuse” and “sexual coercion” by multiple women in 2021, which ultimately led to his career nosediving.

So, who is Chambers exactly – and what happened with her split from Hammer?

Chambers’ relationship with Hammer was actually already over by the time the shocking news around his alleged actions came to light in early 2021. Things came to a head in the first half of 2020, when Hammer left Chambers and their kids in the Caymans to go work on a project in California with a friend, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“He was the worst,” Chambers recalled. “My heart was broken in nine million pieces, and I still drove him to the airport.” She filed for divorce in July 2020.

Per Forbes, Hammer was investigated by the LAPD for nine months in 2021, after a woman – who alleged she’d been raped by him – shared Instagram DMs from him hinting at rape fantasies, BDSM and even cannibalism. The actor denied that any sexual abuse had occurred, stating that all his sexual relationships were consensual.

Nearly three years after multiple women came forward to accuse him of violent actions towards them, Hammer, 37, revived his Instagram in November 2023.

He shared a video and, a few days later, a selfie with friends on the beach.

Per Vanity Fair, Hammer checked into a treatment programme in May 2021. A year later, there were rumours that he was working at a resort in the Cayman Islands, with Variety reporting that he was selling time-shares. In February 2023, in an interview with Air Mail, Hammer repeated that his sexual encounters were consensual, but admitted that he was emotionally abusive.
