Who is Kevin Morris, Hunter Biden’s ‘sugar brother’ lawyer? He’s given millions to President Joe Biden’s troubled son – but made bank through working with South Park’s creators
Amid his most recent spate of troubles, though, another name has come to light: Kevin Morris, a 60-year old entertainment lawyer and producer – who has reportedly spent millions on Hunter’s legal defence over the years.
Here is what you need to know about him – and his close connection to Hunter Biden.
How Kevin Morris made bank through South Park
Morris is also the co-producer of Parker and Stone’s hit Broadway show Book of Mormon, and has presumably shared in the show’s monetary success.
What is Kevin Morris’ relationship to Hunter Biden?
After meeting during Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in 2019, according to Politico, Hunter Biden and Morris quickly became fast friends thanks in part to their similar backgrounds and upbringing. Hunter, who has famously struggled with drug and alcohol abuse throughout his life, was attempting to stay sober at the time, per the same publication – and Morris ended up financially helping him out.
That was only the beginning of a relationship that would lead to Morris being dubbed Hunter’s “patron” and “sugar brother” by certain media outlets. Morris has loaned Hunter between US$5 million and US$6.5 million since 2019, per legal documents, with some of the funds going toward Hunter’s legal defence.
Hunter is scheduled to appear in court in June on federal gun charges in Delaware. He is also set to go on trial in California on nine counts of tax fraud, including two felonies.
Their relationship came under scrutiny after members of the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees interviewed Morris in January. “Kevin Morris’s massive financial support to Hunter Biden raises ethical and campaign finance concerns for President Joe Biden,” the Committee on Oversight and Accountability said in a press statement on its website.
However, Morris’ financial assistance may be coming to an end, with an anonymous source telling Politico this month that “Kevin is completely tapped out”.
Did Kevin Morris really “spy” for Hunter Biden?
In 2022, Morris was accused of “spying” on the set of My Son Hunter – an independent film depicting a fictionalised version of Hunter’s substance abuse problems and business deals with foreign countries. Needless to say, he was not portrayed in a rosy light.
According to New York Post, filmmaker Phelim McAleer lodged an ethics complaint against Morris, claiming that the lawyer visited the set under “false pretences” in order to ferret out information about the project and report back to Hunter. Morris allegedly flew his private jet to Serbia, where the movie was being filmed, and posed as an independent filmmaker.

Kevin Morris’ true love is literature
Although he is known in Hollywood circles for his legal power, Morris’ real love is apparently writing; he has written several books over the past decade.
He described writing his memoir as a rewarding experience, according to the Hollywood Reporter: “I really left a lot of blood and sweat on the ground and everywhere else. I plan to write serious literary fiction for the rest of my life.”
