In an interview on the Today show, she said she wrote the satirical song after thinking about people who complain about being single but have a strict list of checkboxes when it comes to finding a partner: “I was trying to make fun of those girls who say that they’re not high maintenance or that they want a boyfriend, but then they have a long-a** list of needs that are insane.”

“Hi, yeah, I just left the date, and I dunno, am I asking for too much? And this guy was really cute and he was a musician, and he was super passionate about what he did, but I don’t know, all I’m looking for,” go the lyrics. “I’m looking for a man in finance, Trust fund, 6ft 5, blue eyes.”
