The 56-year-old appeared on the podcast Spinning Plates with Sophie Ellis-Bextor on Monday to chat about what it’s like being the mother of a global music icon.

When asked if she enjoyed watching her son perform, she replied, “for the most part”, before adding, “At some point, I find myself sort of standing there staring at him. I don’t know, is it adulation? I don’t know. I remember him when he was on the stage at school, and I’d be sat there with tears streaming down my face – happy tears – and I’m either laughing or whatever.”

She said she has “always known since he was two or three, that there has been something”, calling Styles a “happy, proper little entertainer” as a youngster.

No, Harry’s parents are no longer together. Per People, Twist and Desmond “Des” Styles split up when Harry was just seven years old. They have one more kid, Harry’s older sister, Gemma Styles.

In a 2012 interview with Daily Record, Harry’s dad opened up about how he walked out on his family in 2001. “We were sitting in the lounge. Gemma and Harry were sitting on the floor in front of us, Anne and I on the sofa, and both of them were crying,” he said. He added it was “the worst day of my life”.
