Richard Dreyfuss’ son Ben Dreyfuss is responding to the backlash against his father, after the actor was accused of making transphobic and misogynistic comments at a recent Jaws event, per the LA Times.

“Wow, just looked at my phone and learned about the disgusting outrageous behaviour of one of my relatives,” the 37-year-old joked on X Monday.
The post included a screenshot of a text message from his sister that said she had bought an Android phone. He then responded to his own post, writing, “Re: my father: well, now you know why I refused to give him the password to his own Twitter account for a decade lol.”
Further down the thread he complained that a right-wing British tabloid had “mischaracterised” his initial post: “I am obviously not a left-wing activist and the ‘joke’ wasn’t the part about his Twitter account, it was the part about the disgusting outrageous behaviour (of my sister adopting android).”
“My dad and I disagree about lots of stuff,” he continued. “But it’s a free country. People are allowed to have different opinions about stuff.”
What did Richard Dreyfuss say?
Despite reports saying that the audience walked out of the event, a video showed that many people actually stayed and were appreciative of the veteran actor’s comments, writes The Guardian.
