Homer James Jigme Gere’s name honours both his parents’ fathers: Homer Gere and James Lowell, per People. Jigme, meanwhile, is of Tibetan origin and means “fearless”, a nod to Richard’s Buddhist faith.
Richard and Carey had been dating for four years when they welcomed Homer. They got married in 2002 but separated in 2013 and finalised their divorce in 2016.

Homer Gere graduated from Brown University this year, as seen on his Instagram, with a bachelor of arts in psychology and visual arts. He also served as a research assistant in the Therapeutic Neuroscience Lab of the university’s School of Public Health, per his LinkedIn. Previously, he attended Hackley School in New York.
