The 81st Venice International Film Festival just wrapped, where Hollywood’s biggest stars graced the red carpet. Not only did the A-listers themselves draw fans’ attention, but so did their non-celebrity spouses and children. One such family that made headlines for stepping out in style were the Geres.

Film icon Richard Gere, who just turned 75, was spotted on the red carpet at the Amfar Venezia 2024 on September 1 alongside his Spanish activist wife, Alejandra Silva, 41. The event, hosted by Kate Beckinsale, honoured the Pretty Woman star with the Award of Inspiration for his dedicated efforts towards furthering research and raising awareness about Aids.

The couple also attended the red carpet premiere of Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, where they were joined by Richard’s eldest son, Homer James Jigme Gere, who the actor shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell. The 24-year-old looked dapper in a black suit and was all smiles as he posed with his father. The father-son duo were also seen at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Homer James Jigme Gere’s name honours both his parents’ fathers: Homer Gere and James Lowell, per People. Jigme, meanwhile, is of Tibetan origin and means “fearless”, a nod to Richard’s Buddhist faith.

Richard and Carey had been dating for four years when they welcomed Homer. They got married in 2002 but separated in 2013 and finalised their divorce in 2016.

Homer Gere graduated from Brown University this year, as seen on his Instagram, with a bachelor of arts in psychology and visual arts. He also served as a research assistant in the Therapeutic Neuroscience Lab of the university’s School of Public Health, per his LinkedIn. Previously, he attended Hackley School in New York.
