Much to the dismay of Jane’s Addiction fans, the rock band has cancelled the rest of its 2024 reunion tour after an onstage blow-up between frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro. The fight happened at the band’s show in Boston on September 13 – which happened to be Friday the 13th. Per a statement on Instagram by members Eric Avery, Stephen Perkins and Dave Navarro, Farrell’s “continuing pattern of behaviour” and “mental health difficulties” led them to cancel the tour. Additionally, Jane’s Addiction has decided to “take some time away as a group”, per The Independent.
Surprisingly, despite the band’s future being up in the air, it released a new song days after the brawl, titled “True Love”. Navarro wrote in a since-deleted post on Instagram, “I am proud of the work we did on this song but I am equally saddened by the fact that you will likely never hear it live.” He also apologised to Jane’s Addiction openers Crawlers, and Love and Rockets as well as the rest of the crew for the unfortunate turn of events.
Meanwhile, Navarro’s fiancée Vanessa DuBasso posted a slide show of behind-the-scenes shots from the New York show, calling her husband-to-be her “hero”. “You’ve fought harder than any human being I know to be here and everyone sees it,” she wrote.
The legendary guitarist, 57, and his fiancée, 31, have matching tattoos that read, “It’s always been you.” In August last year she posed in a wedding dress for an Instagram slide show, which she captioned “marrying the love of my life”, but it’s unclear when the two plan to become husband and wife.
