As SNL approaches its 50th anniversary and a film based on its origin story hits cinemas, the show’s creator Lorne Michaels is keen to celebrate – but did you know his wife once worked on it too?

Filmmaker Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night Live movie just released in theatres on October 11 – the exact same date the show first aired back in 1975, per Variety.

Titled simply Saturday Night and based on the sketch comedy series which has now been running for five decades, the film is an ode to how “a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever”, according to its IMDB write-up.

Gabriel LaBelle plays Lorne Michaels, the creator and producer of the show.

SNL will also begin celebrating its 50th season this autumn. “I want to celebrate this season with people coming back who’ve been part of the show and who love the show – not so much as hosts but just making appearances,” Michaels told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview.

But while SNL fans may already know a fair amount about 79-year-old Michaels, less is known of his long-time wife, Alice Barry, who has barely been photographed or talked about in recent years. Here’s what to know about the wife of the entertainment mogul:

What is Alice Barry’s background?

Not much is known about Alice Barry’s background. Despite being married to a celebrity, she has managed to keep her private life out of the media.

She is also in the entertainment industry

According to The Sun, Barry also works – or used to work – in the entertainment biz. She worked at Saturday Night Live from 1989 to 1991, and was reportedly her husband’s assistant at NBC.

Although it’s unclear what she does today, she did recently co-chair the American Museum of Natural History gala in December with her husband and SNL alum Tina Fey and her husband Jeff Richmond, per The New York Times. A-list guests included Emma Stone, Bowen Yang and Cynthia Erivo, notes the paper.
