The late Lisa Marie Presley lived a highly publicised yet enigmatic life as Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s daughter. Now, her posthumous memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, co-authored by her daughter, actress Riley Keough, is revealing details about that life that have never before been uncovered. One such revelation is about the “Dirty Laundry” singer’s internal conflict after undergoing an abortion while dating Danny Keough, which she called “the stupidest thing I’ve ever done”, per People.

Lisa Marie writes that the procedure left her devastated and wanting to “make amends” by getting pregnant again. So she “planned and plotted and schemed” to make it happen. The couple conceived Riley soon after, but Lisa Marie admits to feeling like she “trapped” Danny with the baby. Their relationship did not last long. Riley was born in 1989, a year after her parents married, but they divorced in 1994.

Per People, Danny was born on November 6, 1964, in Chicago to Francis and Janet Keough. After his parents’ divorce, his mother married Alan Hollander, a Scientologist with whom she co-founded a private Scientology school called Delphian School. Danny and his brother Tom graduated from that academy. Tom later married a Scientology school teacher.

In her memoir, Lisa Marie opened up about moving into the Scientology Celebrity Centre after butting heads with her mother. Per People, that’s where she met Danny. Some years later, they were married by a minister in the Church of Scientology at the Celebrity Centre International.

While many thought Danny married Lisa Marie for her money, insiders told People in 1988 that he was financially supported by the controversial Church. However, Riley told The Guardian in 2017, “My father had mattresses on the floor of his apartments. He lived in cabins and trailer parks. He just didn’t have much money.”
