Courtney Burgess and his lawyer Ariel Mitchell are clapping back at Diddy’s sons, Christian Combs and Quincy Brown, after they filed a cease-and-desist order over Courtney’s publication of a tell-all book allegedly based on the diaries of their late mother Kim Porter, per TMZ.
According to the Daily Mail, the brothers claim that Burgess – who is a witness in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial – was trying to capitalise on their mother’s hard-earned fame through the book.
As per the legal response obtained by TMZ, Burgess and Mitchell said that they weren’t trying to capitalise on her fame, since Porter was not an actor or entertainer and is only well known for being Diddy’s “long-time paramour”.

Diddy’s sons say they are the rightful heirs and owners of Porter’s IP rights, while Mitchell told TMZ that Porter had promised Burgess a copy of her diary before giving it to him – meaning he allegedly has the rights.

Courtney Burgess’ background
According to his Facebook profile, Burgess is currently single and hails from Newark, New Jersey. It notes that he attended Vailsburg High School, then Clark University, and has now been in the entertainment business for over 30 years.
In a recent interview with NewsNation, he said he used to work at Big Beat Records. “I think we [Burgess and Diddy] probably entered the music business at the same time. He entered with Uptown and I entered with Big Beat. Atlantic,” he said. According to his Instagram bio, he is the current CEO of Alter the Ego Records.
What does Courtney Burgess have to do with Kim Porter?
According to The New York Times, Burgess said that Kim Porter – Diddy’s ex and mother to three of his children – had given him video footage and a manuscript which he described as a rough draft of her alleged memoir.
