Babyface fans are coming to his defence after an AP interviewer interrupted him by calling out for a pop star’s attention – but what do we know about his girlfriend, Rika Tischendorf?

Babyface fans are coming to his defence after an Associated Press interviewer rudely interrupted him in the middle of their conversation by calling out for another pop star’s attention.

During Sunday night’s Grammys, journalists Krysta Fauria and Leslie Ambriz live-streamed their interaction with the “Whip Appeal” singer on the red carpet for AP. As he was responding to one of their questions, Fauria spotted best new artist nominee Chappell Roan (who later won the category) and shouted her name while Babyface was still speaking.

“You guys wanna take that? Go do that then,” he responded graciously before handing them back the microphone as Roan arrived. “I’m so sorry,” the other reporter quickly told him.

“Kiss ya job goodbye,” wrote one netizen in a repost of the clip. “That was extremely rude. She would have waited 30 seconds for the interview with Babyface to gracefully wrap up. That was very unprofessional,” added another.

The Kardashians reality TV star Khloé Kardashian also stood up for the 12-time Grammy-award-winning producer, whose real name is Kenneth Brian Edmonds. “This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview,” the Good American founder shared in part on X, alongside the clip. “Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. It’s maddening to see a legend not get the respect and attention they deserve. He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this.”

Iconic singer Dionne Warwick also reshared the video on X, writing, “13x Grammy Award winning Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds? Am I seeing this correctly?”

Fauria apologised on camera later. “I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier,” she said. “Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion, as there is on these carpets. But I’m a big Babyface fan, as are we all, so I just wanted to say that I really apologise.”

AP also issued a statement to apologise. “We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet,” it said on X. “We have apologised to him through his representative and to our viewers on the livestream.”
