Dua Lipa’s father Dukagjin met wife Anesa in Kosovo, but when the Bosnian War broke out they moved to London, then had Dua in 1995 – the proud dad now accompanies her to the Grammys and other events

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland last October honoured some of the biggest names in popular music, including Cher, Mary J. Blige, A Tribe Called Quest, Ozzy Osbourne, the Dave Matthews Band and more. Kicking off the show were Cher and Dua Lipa – pop icons of their respective generations – who captivated the audience with their joint rendition of the former’s beloved track, “Believe”.

Before the performance, the “Levitating” singer arrived on the red carpet with her “dadager”, father and manager Dukagjin Lipa, who was also her date at the 2024 Grammys. In Cleveland, while dashing dad donned a tuxedo, daughter Dua was a vision in black, with her toned abs on full display.

The father-daughter pair’s appearance was particularly pleasing for fans who have long swooned over the older Lipa’s good looks. Bad Education actor Jack Whitehall even called him “the best-looking dad in the music industry” at the 2019 Brit Awards.

Dukagjin Lipa is ethnically Albanian, reports People. He became engaged to wife Anesa in Kosovo, moving to London in 1992 when the Bosnian War began. There, they married and welcomed their firstborn child, Dua.

Dukagjin was training to be a dentist, according to People, but the course of his life changed in London. In addition to taking on odd jobs to make ends meet, he studied at the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He earned his master’s degree in Mass Communication when the family moved back to Kosovan capital Pristina in 2008.
