Fame and celebrity

Some actors, like Julia Roberts and Jessica Alba, view on-screen nudity as a deal breaker, while others, including Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hardy, embrace the opportunity to act naked in films

“To act with my clothes on is a performance. To act with my clothes off is a documentary,” Julia Roberts told Marie Claire in 2007.

Jessica Alba admitted to a similar logic in 2014: “I don’t want my grandparents to see my boobs. That’s it,” the Fantastic Four actress told Glamour. “It would be weird at Christmas.”

And while these seem like perfectly normal reasons an actor wouldn’t want to get naked on screen, some stars are willing to go much further for their art – and do full frontal nudity. Hell, some even embrace the notion (we’re looking at you, Tom Hardy).

So without further ado, here are 10 actors who decided to bare all for the silver screen …

1. Barry Keoghan in Saltburn

It’s been a while since a film generated quite so many headlines, and Saltburn’s scene showing Barry Keoghan dancing naked around a room to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s hit “Murder on the Dancefloor” must have been responsible for at least half of them.

“I’m not used to this much attention,” Keoghan told Vanity Fair. “You look at European cinema and they tend to have a lot of scenes that involve nudity, and it’s not a massive thing, really.”

2. Margot Robbie in Wolf of Wall Street
