New Netflix show Ransom Canyon is being compared to Taylor Sheridan’s hit neo-Western shows Yellowstone and Landman.

Starring Josh Duhamel as rancher Staten Kirkland and Minka Kelly as dance hall owner Quinn O’Grady, the show is set in the sprawling Texas Hill Country region, where rivalries over the control of the titular piece of land threaten to destroy legacies. Caught in the crossfire, Kirkland and O’Grady navigate a complex dynamic that has teetered between platonic affection and romantic attraction for years, giving us a sizzling romance worth swooning over.

As of April 25, Ransom Canyon has racked up 56 million watch hours, according to Netflix Tudum. Meanwhile, the show’s creator, April Blair, has revealed to Deadline that the writer’s room is already buzzing with preparations for a second season.

With the show’s success comes a new focus on its lead actors, and in particular Minka Kelly after she pushed for pay equity with Duhamel. She negotiated with Netflix to be paid the same as her male co-star, per Deadline, but in the end both parties decided on a significant raise for her instead.

“I think that’s probably one of the best things about working with Netflix, is that they’re very pro that. So I didn’t have to fight very hard. They sort of made that easy,” Kelly told the outlet during an interview.

The New York Yankees player reached several career milestones during his relationship with the Titans actress. She celebrated with him when his team won the 2009 World Series and when he recorded his 3000th hit in 2011. Later that year, the couple broke up but remained friends.
