Meet Bindi Irwin’s husband Chandler Powell: the ex-wakeboarder met Steve Irwin’s daughter when he visited the Australia Zoo as a teen – but why did Robert Irwin test him?

A fellow wildlife enthusiast, US-born Powell studied marketing before meeting his future wife – but his brother-in-law Robert wasn’t impressed until he’d fed the alligators
Steve Irwin’s daughter, the conservationist Bindi Irwin, is having a great year. In February, her children’s picture book You Are A Wildlife Warrior was published. Then in March, she celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary with husband Chandler Powell, and the fourth birthday of their daughter Grace Warrior, who got a Bluey-themed party at the family’s Australia Zoo, per Bindi’s Instagram.
The family enjoyed a road trip across Byron Bay and Sydney in April, and little Grace also got her first haircut that month, which Irwin recorded and shared on her Instagram.
Powell has been an unwavering pillar of support for Irwin, and she never fails to wax lyrical about her man. In her Valentine’s Day post for him, she wrote lovingly, “So thankful to be on this life adventure with you.” Meanwhile, his tribute read, “My Valentine always. I’m so grateful for all that you do for our family. I love you.”
